All hotel keepers, motel operators, bed & breakfast operators, or people furnishing rooms or lodging to transients (less than 30 days) must apply for a room tax permit. Any person who rents a room, part of their property, or their entire property for less than 30 days at a time needs to have a room tax permit. Collecting Room Tax
The Village Clerk-Treasurer shall require all permit holders to collect 6% room tax on their gross receipts. The permit holders must submit their room tax and quarterly report on or before the 30th of the month succeeding the calendar quarter for which the room tax was collected. For example, for the room tax collected in the 1st quarter, the room tax and report is due in the Village Clerk-Treasurer’s Office by April 30th. This report shall contain the gross receipts of the preceding calendar quarter from each room tax permit holder, as well as the room tax collected.
The Village also requires that permit holders file an annual report with the Village Clerk-Treasurer by February of each year.
