Food Truck & Peddler's Permits

The Village requires all solicitors who engage in direct sales or solicitations within the Village of Elkhart Lake to obtain a peddler’s permit. Any food truck operators would also fall under the peddler’s permit regulations. Peddlers can only sell between 9:00 am and 8:00 pm.

A Peddler’s Permit Application needs to be submitted at least one week before the event. The cost for the Peddler’s Permit is a $25.00 application fee and a $5.00 per day of operation charge. The application must be approved by the Chief of Police.

Walkway Permits

The Village of Elkhart Lake does not allow vehicles on the pedestrian walkway and mall area formerly known as “Lake Street,” except by special permit granted by the Village Board.

A Pedestrian Walkway Permit Application and a $50.00 application fee must be submitted at least three weeks before the event. The application must be approved by the Village Board. The Village Board will not grant permits for the walkway if the vehicle weighs over 16,000 pounds.
